The Dragon's Head
What is the Dragon's Head? You often write about the Dragon's Head but I'm
sure what it is. I love your page. It validates and creates focus for the
day or just validates the energies I'm feeling.
The Dragon's Head refers to the North Node of the Moon. (Don't ask for a technical explanation of the nodal point...it refers to the plane of the Moon's orbit where it intersects the ecliptic. It's a sculptural thing that my intuition can't quite explain.)
The North Node of the Moon is an intuitively sensitive point which is variously interpreted as something akin to destiny in the positive sense. It also represents a distinct challenge. Putting those ideas together brings us to something not easily translated into words. For example...the Horizon was an objective and outward sign of the Dragon's Head for Columbus. When everyone thought that the Earth was flat...Columbus risked finding out for sure. To put yourself into his shoes and have your own lingering doubts about the validity of theory in the face of the possibility of sea monsters and a flat Earth requires a sensitivity to the real fears and doubts he felt in his gut. The Dragon's Head is the place where you have absolutely no benefit of hindsight. Columbus didn't KNOW that he'd be successful. Everything lies in front of you...and in fact, the only hindsight you have...the South Node of the Moon, acts like a contradiction of your theory. The Dragon's Head, the cutting edge of your consciousness is the place where you've got the greatest potential to grow and learn. It's the place where only your own experience counts...nobody has been there before in your shoes...nobody. That's why it's called the Dragon's head. Nobody really wants that challenge...but it's your very own. Custom fitted to your own personal doubts and fears. The Dragon ALWAYS guards the treasure. That's a guarantee from Psyche. What's not guaranteed is the outcome. We've got the freedom to risk the adventure to the very end, or we can drop the ball at any time and try to escape. That's Free Will.
That's the Dragon's Head.
