Mother

I was born May 24, 1932, at 4:30 pm, in Hermitage PA. I have a terrible relationship with my mother. Her date of birth Feb. 5, 1915. Time unknown. My siblings also have a difficult time dealing with her. Her own brother and sisters also had problems with her. She is elderly and I would like to know if there will be a way to resolve problems.

On your side you have Saturn and Luna conjunct in the House of Mother or the House of the Ancestors. Astrologically, you represent the entire gamut of your ancestors. It's as though you literally carry all of the DNA of your fore fathers (Saturn) and their wives (Luna), and naturally challenge your mother to assert herself against the past embodied in you. It's as though she is Marlon Brando on a motorcycle in The Wild Ones and you're perpetually forced to play Henry Fonda and Kate Hepburn in On Golden Pond. (I'm not really big on cinema...so bear with me).

As for your siblings and her siblings...it's likely that mom has never found the satisfaction she's been looking for all of her life and really acted out her role as rebel without a cause. The trouble with that sort of scenario is that somebody has to take the burden of responsibility for being creative, conscious, mature, reasonable, clever and compassionate. It's something we all need in families and relationships...but when a parent, a child, a sibling or a spouse refuses to meet you halfway...then you have to ask yourself what you can do for yourself without expecting anything from the Other.

How do you allow her to be herself without expecting her to change, and still hang on to your sanity and maturity. My only suggestion concerning your chart is your 5th House Dragon's Head in Pisces. It suggests that the cutting edge for you is to learn Compassion. This is a very big deal. It's crucial that you really understand what Compassion is all about. Don't just rely on what you think you might know about it. You're meant to learn all about it in this lifetime. Pisces is the key to your resolving this situation for yourself. Pisces is many things and the most important in this case is Compassion. You will need to treat yourself with Compassion. Without that...there's nothing you can do for anyone. It's like a well that fills very, very slowly.... You really must find an adequate source for yourself before you can offer water to anyone. You would simply die of dehydration without a source for yourself. Your mom desperately needs your compassion, but unless you've found the source...you're both going to suffer from the lack of it.
