Sexist Synastry
I have found that whenever I do a synastry reading my horoscope is usually more compatible to my
significant others. In the past this has also been the same and it tends to be the same with friends compatiblility.
Meaning the female is usually more compatible with the male. Is sexism involved in interpretation?
Yes. Two things are important here. The first is that doing your own chart tends to be much more difficult to do well, simply because you're too close to the subjective element to be able to see with a full and clear objectivity. It's just a fact of the human psyche and no shortcoming of yours.
The second and more interesting element concerns what Jung saw to be the most coherent difference between the sexes. In his view, women are generally concerned with the Eros function of Psyche. It is their strong point to be better at and more concerned with creating harmony in relationship. On the other side, men are generally concerned with the Logos function of Psyche. Their strong point tends to be looking logically (rather than emotionally) at all of the issues of life. At their extremes, the two then function as anathema to one another. Since we are all made up of both masculine and feminine traits, most individuals are not at the extremes, but neither are we usually very well balanced. In fact, within relationships, we tend to delegate roles and ignore the difficult work of becoming balanced for ourselves.
Astrology has the wonderful capacity of being able to give us an objective assesment of those traits and show us what we need to pay attention to in order to achieve more balance. It's possible that your personal chart shows more of the Eros function, and that your friends, correspondingly show much less. I really don't think that there is any such thing as two incompatible charts (but then again, I'm a Libra...I always look for the creative possibilities), but perhaps your destiny is to learn to balance that more for yourself. As you do, you might find that the synastry charts you deal with begin to change as well, as you begin to attract others who are more within your own range of balance.
